COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Leadership Self-Assessment:

Influences and Biases

Leaders and potential leaders,

Do you want to deepen your understanding of your leadership?
Could you benefit from enhancing or sharpening your leadership skills?
What’s next for your leadership?
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, the next CLDP session is intended for men like you.

Leadership Self-Assessment: Influences and Biases
Thursday, July 8th
7:00 to 9:00 pm ET / 4:00 to 6:00 pm PT
Class held via Zoom call (call-in details below)
Let us know you plan to attend by contacting Tom Caruso ( tcaruso2@gmail.com ).

We have all been exposed to good and bad “leaders” since we were very young. Over the past 10+ years, leadership references are everywhere, and leadership development and training have become a $1 billion/year industry. This session provides an opportunity to examine your own leadership, and your leadership influences and biases, skills, and growth areas.

During this 2-hour interactive, experiential session, you will:

  • Explore beliefs and biases affecting your leadership
  • Identify your leadership role models and how they influence your leadership and followership
  • Learn a tool to assess your leadership skills and identify your strengths and weaknesses

TO PREPARE:

  1. Notice leadership in action in different situations, by you or someone else.
  2. Bring at least one example of successful leadership and one example of failed leadership, by you or others, in any situation or context or at any scale.
  3. Spend 5 to 10 minutes considering the following two questions, one at a time, in a peaceful space, with no distractions.  After you are finished reflecting on each question write some notes about what came up (your responses to these questions are only for you):

        (a) How do you see yourself as a leader?
        (b) What’s your definition of leadership?

Robert Fisher is a keen student and observer of leadership. He has coached leaders and leadership teams for decades in the private and public sectors, often in high conflict or organizational development situations. He also taught leadership and conflict resolution at the School of Conflict Analysis and Resolution, George Mason University, to graduate and certificate program students.

Join us for these informative and educational sessions on a monthly basis.

About the Community Leadership Development Program:

We are pleased to announce our third year of the Community Leadership Development Program (CLDP) – formerly the Community Leadership Training Program (CLTP).  We will continue to have our sessions on the second Thursday of each month, 7 to 9 PM ET., from September 2020 through July 2021.  You can find a summary of this year’s schedule below.  In this (CLDP) Syllabus for the 2020-2021 Season link, you can also find descriptions of each session.

While a few of our offerings will again be from Core Team members, this year we also have an assortment of other trainers leading sessions.  As in our first two years, these two-hour sessions will include opportunities for you to participate in conversations and exercises on each topic.  There is no fee or registration, we simply ask for donations if you find these sessions useful.  You will receive notification and instructions for each session at least one week before the scheduled session.
We hope you will join us for these regular sessions. Please let us know if you have any questions by emailing Tom Caruso (tcaruso2@gmail.com).
